With her CPA credential and extensive background spanning corporate finance at large public companies, public accounting at CPA firms, and nonprofit leadership roles, Joan understands both the strategic vision and operational realities nonprofits face.
Joan’s distinctive strength lies in her proactive initiative and systems optimization mindset. She’s constantly looking for ways databases, processes, and financial tools can work harder for her clients. She excels at advising boards, implementing internal controls with diplomacy, and translating complex financial data into actionable insights for non-financial stakeholders. Her experience managing teams and P&L responsibilities, combined with her Blackbaud certifications and Six Sigma Green Belt, makes her an invaluable asset to both the AIOA team and their nonprofit clients.
When she’s not optimizing fundraising systems or preparing board presentations, Joan enjoys volunteering her time supporting the causes she cares about, having served on auction committees and board development initiatives.
