UncategorizedMarch 27, 2020MN Stay at Home Order

Governor Walz announced on March 25th, that Minnesota will join several other states in issuing a Stay at Home Order. The order will start today, March 27th, 2020 at 11:59 pm and run through Friday, April 10th.

During the stay at home order, businesses deemed non-essential will need to close or work from home if that is a possibility.

Essentials businesses include:

  • Hospitals
  • Assisted Living Facilities
  • Grocery Stores
  • Delivery services, food manufacturers, agriculture etc.
  • Gas Stations
  • Auto Repair Shops
  • Plumbers/Electricians/HVAC

If your business is impacted by this stay at home order, here are some plans to put in place quickly.

  • Openly communicate the impact on your employees.  Decide how you are going to communicate throughout the order.  Share that plan with your employees and follow through.
  • Arrange to have your mail forwarded to your home, especially if you collect payments from customers by mail.
  • Place a hold on other services at your work location, such as cleaning or delivery of supplies.
  • Gather any documents you may need at home, such as checks, envelopes, and stamps.
  • If you can work from home, use technology to make remote work easier.
    • Use your bank’s bill-pay to pay vendors
    • Use services such as HighFive, Zoom, or GoToMeeting to facilitate meetings with customers and team members.

While this order is set for only two weeks, it will have an impact on all businesses.  You want your business to be ready when the unexpected occurs.  Download our Disaster Preparedness Checklist by clicking HERE for more important points to consider as you develop your business continuity plan.
