UncategorizedNovember 18, 2019Five tips to surviving the Holidays

Here are some tips for small business owners to manage through the stress of a busy holiday season:

As you balance the daunting task of year-end deadlines and planning for 2020, you and your team face an increasing number of distractions.  Slow commute times, feeling under-the-weather and the pressure of securing the best holiday deals are at the top of the list!  The holidays do not need to be a stressful time.  Instead, use this time to gain momentum for the New Year.

1. Tune out

  • Do only one thing at a time and give it your full attention.  Don’t feel guilty for checking out early, everything will still be there when you return.

2. Set Boundaries

If you are the owner of a small business, chances are you run yourself pretty thin most of the time.  Now is the time to set some serious boundaries for yourself.  Delegate to others or just say no to certain tasks.

3. Despite the cold, don’t forget to breathe

You have much to accomplish and little time.  Relax and stay positive.  Take a quick 15-minute break now and then to clear your mind.

4. Jot Down Your Holiday Wishlist, and stick to it

Setting goals is critical to success.  Decide what really needs to be accomplished and focus on only those things.

5. Find Meaning

Step back and focus on what really matters.  Seek out a purpose that can help lift your spirits.  Consider volunteering or making a charitable donation.  You could also cut hours to offer employees more time with their families or throw a festive party to connect on a deeper level.

Remember, ‘tis the season to be jolly but you also need a little peace and calm this season. Have fun and enjoy this magical time of year. End 2019 on a high note and accelerate into the new year re-energized and ready for the challenging year that lies ahead. For more information on managing holiday stress visit our website below!
